MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
CHRISTCHURCH. ; TO-DAY’S CASES. (Before Mr H. Y. Widdowson, t>.M , D RUNKEXNESS. One first offender was fined 10s, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. Another was fined 20s. the amount of her bail, in default fortyeight hours’ imprisonment. Roderick M’Kav, a second offender, was fined 20s, in default three days’ imprisonment. MAN’S FOOLISHNESS. Frederick Norman Lloyd came up for sentence on two charges of stealing bicycles. The accused said he had yielded to a temptation, because he had lost his wages, and could not go. home penniless to his wife. In asking for probation he said it was not right that his wife and child should suffer through his foolishness. The Magistrate : The women always have to suffer for a man’s foolishness. Lloyd was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment on each charge, the terms to be cumulative. JUVENILE COURT. A lad aged fifteen was fined 2s 6d for cycling on the footpath.
