ADDINGTON YARDS.

TO-DAY’S SALE. Fat lambs showed an improvement in price at the metropolitan weekly market at Addington to-day, the average price per lb being a full Old. There wai a larger yarding of fat cattle than last week and, as usual, it included a lartto number of inferior steers and cows. The sale at the start was ‘'sticky." Store sheep did not. 6eli nearly so well as last week and prices all round were easier. Parsings were very frequent, in the ea-rly stages of the store sheep sale. There was a large yarding of fat sheep, the entry filling about eleven races, two more than last week. STORE SHEEP. The entry of store sheop was a fairly large one. Not many sheep from places outside of Canterbury were forward. The entry consisted chiefly of old ewes. The attendance of buyers was smaller than usual and right from the start bidding was very lifeless. The demand for aged ewes was weak and prices for these were back several shillings per head on those ruling at the previous sale. Specially forward lambs sold moderately well, but backward classes were decidedly weaker. Wethers were again cheaper. Passings were very frequent in the early stages of th# sale. FAT LAMBS. Tlie yarding of fat lamb 6 totalled 3250, compared with 2870 last week. Several lines of nicely finished lambs were forward but there were also a- good many light sorts. The tone of the market was better than last week, and price* showed an allround improvement of fully Is per head. The average price per lb was a full 9jd, compared with 9d to 9£d last week. Tne bulk of the entry went to the export buyers, but graziers were in the market for the lighter sorts. The yarding of fat cattle was a large one Generally speaking the quality was not too good, there being a large number of old cows and inferior steers forward. Really good beef was in short supply and it met with a good sale and made prices above those of last week. The demand for other sorts, however, was dull and generally the sale was a “ sticky " one. In the early part of the sale seven steers sold on behalf of Lady Campbell (Cheviot Hills) made from £l2 15s to £l6 se. the latter price for three. Good beef made up to 23s per 1001 b. FAT SHEEP. The entry of fat sheep included some nicely finished lines. The sale opened with prices about, equal to those ruling last week.
