At the adjourned inquest) on Puhi M a ilia, who murderously assaulted m 3 wife on January 2 and afterwards shot htinself. a verdict was returned of death from gunshot wounds, sell’ iijflicted. The evidence showed that Maiha had pleaded with his wife not to go away with another Native, but the attitude cl the woman suddenly turned his ].leading into rage, and he struck h?r violently with a hammer on the head. He afterward- secured a gun and shut the top of his head away. w Mrs Mahia is still lingering, but is in a very low condition.
