OBITUARY.

ALEXANDER DAVIDSON. Tho death occurred yesterday morning of Mr Alexander Davidson, of Springfield Read, St Albans, at the age of eighty-two years. The late Mr Davidson was born near Glasgow. Scotland, and catoo to the Dominion over sixty years ago. landing at Lyttelton. Ho found employment with tho Hay Bros., of Pigeon Bay. and later pursued liis occupation of gardener. being with Mr George Gould in that capacity for over twenty years. He took a great interest in horticultural shows, being one of the founders of the Christchurch Horticultural Society. He was a consistent and successful exhibitor at the various sallows, but would never take any piiae-money. leaving it to form a fund for a permanent building at the Show Grounds for horticultural exhibits. Air Davidson was greatly interested in church work, being oue of the founders of Knox Presbyterian Church, of which he was an elder. He also served as a teacher bf the Sunday school for many years, and was also a pjeminent Band of Hope worker, hawing founded the Knox Society. In his later years the late Mr Davidson acted as agent in St Albans for the National Insurance Company. Ho leaves six daughters and three sons.
