A CONTRACTOR’S DEATH.
MAORI CHARGED WITH MURDER. (Per Press Association,.} WELLINGTON. December 5. Tin’s afternoon Acting-Detective Walsh arrested a young Native, John Tohi. on a charge of having on or about October 14 murdered Herbert Henry Knight, contractor.) It appears, from what can be gathered of the case, that Knight was not reported to the Police as missing until last week. Investigation of the circumstances connected with his disappearance created certain suspicion. The case was placed in the J lands of Acting-Detective Walsh for investigation. Tho body of Knight has been recovered and the remains are being brought into Wellington so that a post-mortem examination may be made. The arrested man. John Tohi, is about twenty years ol age. The deceased. Herbert Henry Knight, v as unmarried. He was a contractor and was aged about fifty years. He had property at JohnsonvilJe and at Island Bay.
