HELPING THE SOLDIERS.

CHALLENGE TO REFORM.

Dr H. T. J. Thacker to-day received the following letter from a soldier patient in Queen Mary’s Hospital, Hu rimer Springs ; “Dear Dr Thacker.—This you can challenge the Reform Party with. The war is over four years and they are too mean to give the soldiers leave to see their wives and children at Christmas. If we insist on going, then we are to be discharged from the hospital. and to forfeit ail pensions and further treatment. Mr Massey, the soldiers’ friend! !•!. Our economic position is such that there is no on© of us who can take the step, and there is no accommodation at Hanmer at Christmas under £-5 5s a week for our relatives. We don’t want charity; only a square deal. TVe are unfortunate enough to be in hospital for sain another Christmas. All the more reason why they should let us have ten days’ epell, especially the men who are making rapid recoveries. Good luck in your campign.”
