EMPIRE EXHIBITION.

Sir Joseph Cook, High Commissioner for Australia. conferred with tho ’ A gents-Gen oral regarding question© re. ’ latjjig to the British Empire Exhibition. It was decided to request Australian representation upon the Management Committee, and to insist that the caterers use Empire products a-s far as practicable. Subsequently Sir Joseph Cook, Sir James Allen and other High Commissioners met representatives of the Executive Council and the Management Committee of the exhibition, and preferred a request for Dominion representation on the Managjemejit Committee. It was explained that the Management Committee was merely an advisory body, the Executive Council holding the chief executive functions. A© a result of the meeting, it is expected that in the course of a few datys the dominions will be invited to appoint representatives to the Executive Council. It is probable, also, in conformity with the suggestion, that the High Commissioners will be appointed. with Dominion representation, for the purpose of inquiring into the whole question of management by the Executive Council, including supplies for the caterers, and other matters with regard to which the dominions are dissatisfied. The necessity for Dominion reprosensation was exemplified at to-day's meeting, by the. production of a report by a British official regarding the availability of Dominion products, in the course of which were many misleading statements. The Executive Council stated that : t had not been influenced by the report. Nevertheless the position would be more satisfactory to the Dominions when they are vouchsafed a direct voice in the management of the exhibition . ___________
