SPARROW CHAMPIONSHIP, 1922. This fixture, which took place on Saturday, attracted quite, a host of visitors and shooters, who were regaled with afternoon tea at the club house. Tho weather conwith a fairly keen breeze. Tho conditions cf the match were:—Seventeen sparrow. l , all off 21yds, the winner to hold the Ward Cup (presented by Messrs Ward and Co.i getlior with the sweepstake. The second prize was a handsome copper vase, presented by tho vice-president, Mr • Fred. Tiuscott. Thirty shooters faced the trap?, and Mr E. H. Rowell (Springston) oflici, a ted as referee. The champion was Cyril Truscott, who shot all his birds, Dawson. Stead. Ebert and Moffalt tying with fifteen birds for second prize. In the shoot-off for second prize, Dawson won on the fifth round. A “first mies out" sweep (twenty-one ertrants) was won by C. Jamieson. Mr C. E. Brown (a vice-president- presented the enp and medal to the winner, and in congratulating him mentioned that Truscott had also won the New Zealand live pigeon championship and the Christchurch Gun Chib sparrow championship, in addition to twice winning the aggregate cup in the same club. Anothei vice-president. Mr L. A. Shand. presented Dawson with the second , prize, and congratulated him on his success. Hearty cheers were given for the winners, donor; o- prizes, arid for the referee.
