OBITUARY.

W F. PAXNETT. The -death occurred at his residence, ‘' 4cnrgill. on September 12, of Mr William Fuller Panrictt, son of the late* Mr T. V. Pan nett-, of Lincoln, anti n. well-known resident of North Canterbury. "Hie deceased gentleman va* b wn at Riccartoi. in 18-56, rnd was educated at the Lincoln School. He as a farmer in the Lin coin and Springs ton districts. In 1882 ho took over and carried on the Spring-Ton property until 1900, when ho removed to “ Cha ilev Farm,” at Sheffield. In 1905 lie moved to Dalliugton. where he lived until ho purchased tho present propertv at Scargill in *1907. Mr Uarmett was very a idely esteemed and respected iliroughout tho district. He was for seventeen years a member of the Lincoln Baptist Church, where he acted a* deacon, superintendent of the Sunday School and also as choirmaster. He also held office for some years on tlie Springston School Committee. After removing to Sheffield he was chairman of tho Malvern branch of the Far biers’ Union, and was president of the Malvern A. ana P. Association Tr>r a year. JIo was a member of the Annafc School Committee, and took an active part in the work of the Primitive Methodist Church at Waddington. He ever took re keen interest in affairs ol local interest, . nd during his residence at Scargill took an* active part in tho ■work of the local branch of the Farmers’ Union. He was elected for two years to represent the Waikari Biding on the Waipara County Council, and was chairman <J the local School Com n ittee for three years. He was an expresident of ;’ne Scargill Miniature ffifio Club, and a leader in thy? Scar pili Mutual Improvement. Society. H* acted as n lay preacher in the Ha.wa*’den Methodist circuit, and occasionally preached in the Presbyterian Church. Hr- was also superintendent of the Scargill Run-day School.
