From Donegal to Cork every city and important township is in the hand of the Government, and the rebels are living the lives of bandits, conducting a guerilla warfare and lying in ambush. •=* / LEADER RELEASED FROM GAOL. LONDON, August 22. Art O’Brien, head of the Self-deter-mination League, who was ari*ested in Dublin three weeks ago while attending a funeral, has been released. FUNDS FROM AMERICA. FREE STATES SECURE INJUNCTION. NEW YORK. August 21. Mr Timothy Smiddy, representing Mr Michael Collins, has obtained a Supreme Court injunction restraining the de Valera faction from obtaining 2,300.000d01, representing moneys ob- [ tained from Irish sympathisers in the United States on bonds issued by the Irish republic. Mr Smiddy contended that the Irish Free State is the free Ireland for which the Irishmen have been fighting, and is entitled to the funds, although they were raised on the bonds of the republic. He asserted that if de Valera obtained the funds further rebellion against the present Irish Government would result, and needless bloodshed continue. The view of the majority of the people in Ireland, he said, favoured the English treaty. Legal possession of the funds is invested in three trustees, de Valera, M. Fogarty and T. O’Mara. M. Fogarty, Mayor of Limerick, alone is an adherent. of the Irish Free State, The settlement of the dispute will be submitted to the local Courts.
