The Morning Herald ” publishes minutes passed at a meeting of the Presbyterian Synod of the New Hebrides in September. They contain grave charges against the French Administration. They allege that the natives are being subjected to shameful abuses, and that cases of illegal recruiting occur, and that native women sre kept upon plantations for improper purposes. The Synod expressed appreciation of the efforts o.f the Prime Ministers of Australia and New Zealand to bring the New Hebrides under complete British control and urged that Imperial and Colonial authorities assist in carrying this out.
