LADIES’ MATCH. CANTERBURY V. WELLING. TON. The teams were as follow: CANTERBURY. Goal-keeper—Miss Man hire. Full-backs—Misses Jackson (captain) arid Lachore. Half-backs—Misses Hastings, Poynter and Meade. Forwards—Misses Oakley. M’lvenzie, Greave, Wood and Crawford. WELLINGTON. Goal-keeper—Miss M. Clark. Full-back3—Misses L. Campbell and Gawkins. Hair-backs—Misses G. Landygrove, LLandygrove and J. Sullivan. Forwards Misses F. Flitcroft, Sutherland, L. Leatham, M. Rowell an L. Wilson. There was a big crowd at English Park to-day to witness the first ladies’ interprovincial Association football match played in Canterbury. The ground was in excellent order, and little wind was blowing, though the sun was troublesome to the goalkeepers. Canterbury won the toss, and Wellington kicked off. Canterbury was first to press home, Miss Crawford making ground on the left, but her shot went wide. Wellington then broke awa-*- 2 the Misses Landygrove combining nicely, but Miss Meade relieved for Canterbury. Canterbury pressed on the left, but Wellington repulsed, and Miss Campbell had a good scoring chance close in, but Miss Lochore relieved. Miss Poynter sent the Canterbury forwards away, and they took the ball right up to goal, but Miss V ilson saved for a corner, which was cleared. The girls were doing well, though there were humorous incidents in plenty, which kept the crowd constantly amused. Canterbury set up a series of attacks, which kept the Wellington defence busy, but it proved sound. Miss Meade put over for Canterbury, but Miss Oakley just missed. From ensuing play Wellington handled in the penalty area, and from the kick taken by Miss Poynter Canterbury was first to score. Canterbury . . .1 Wellington . . .0

Canterbury kicked off on resuming, but Wellington attacked down the centre. Miss Jackson relieved and Miss Hastings made ground on the right for Canterbury. Miss Oakley went down the right for Canterbury, the hall going to the other wing, and back again for Miss Oakley to put in a good shot, which Miss Wilson saved nicely. RANGERS v. NOMADS. The Rangers and Nomads teams took the field immediately after the ladies’ match, in the final for the English Cup. Both teams were at full strength and a fast aud interesting game was played. Rangers kicked off, but Nomads immediately took up the attack and forced throe corners in quick succession, but the danger was averted. Rangers sent play back, but Nomads returned and Pailett had a chance but ho shot over. Play went down Rangers’ right, and Bissitt put to Norman, but Mitchell robbed in the nick of time. The ball travelled smartly from wing to wing. From a foul against Rangers for ft, throw-in, Woods put to goal, and from a scramble Soencsr netted. Nomads 1, Rangei-s 0. Nomads continued to have the best of the -play, and missed no opportunity, shooting for goal. Tup©. the Rangers’ goalie, punched out a hot shot from Spencer, and play went to the other end, where Mitchell relieved from Norman from Rangers’ half-way on the right and put over, but Dowker put ovei* the bar. Play went to the other end, where Grant shot over the bar and Frickleton followed with a shot which hit the cross-bar. Give and take play followed, but there was no further score at the interval.
