THE RED COMPANY.
One of the leading attractions in the latter part of Grand National Week will be the gorgeous variety’ entertainment to be presented in the Choral Hall on Saturday evening) next by the Rod Company, comprising over eighty performers, all amateurs. Some three months ago the company made its debut and created a very favourable impression. Since then they have been busily engaged in the preparation of an entertainment *‘ bigger, brighter and better,” and on Saturday next patrons will have an opportunity of judging whether they have succeeded in attaining this end. All the old artists and several new ones will make their appearance. The Goblin Troupe will bo seen for the first time in a novel and clever fantasy, “Midnight Frolics.” Charles Coates, who has gained a reputation for his clever conjuring exhibitions, will present new feats—notably the ” Guillotine Mystery,” in which a real steel blade (there is a prize of £IOOO for the person who proves that it is not steel) is used. On the gymnastic side there is a troupe of boys and girls who will perform feats on the trapeze and whirlwind tumbling acts. In addition there aro singers, dancers, ventriloquists and jugglers. The entertainment will conclude with an exhibition of daring aerial trapeze stunts by Reg Williams, who will again carry out his thrilling “ death slide ” from the top of the hall to the stage. The price of admission is extremely moderate and seats may be booked at Room 4, Trades Hall.
