RACE CROWDS.
BIG INFLUX OF VISITORS. There has been a groat influx of visitors during the past few days for the Grand National Racing Carnival, the indications being that the number of visitors is quite as large as in previous years. Reports from the licensed hotels, private hotels and boarding-houses state that they are fully booked up and many of the late arrivals who did not take the precaution to book ahead have had to be content with shakodowns. At ono large hotel the accommodation was all booked up several weeks ago and fully a hundred appli cations for accommodation bad to be turned away. Grand National week occurs at a very convenient time for many people who are ablo to take their holidays without undue interference with their work, and as a result the carnival is ono of tho most popular of winter racing carnivals. The postponement of the trotting meeting to-day, owing to the slushy nature of the ground, was a keen disappointment to many of the visitors. THE FIXTURES. TO-DAY.
