The Labour Party Executive decided to invite nominations for the West Sydney vacancy'. Mr Lambert, while expressing appreciation of the West Sydney Labour Council’s action in recommending him, announced his unwillingness to contest the seat, unless he was chosen by a selection ballot. September 3 has been fixed ns the date for the by-election. (A message received yesterday stated : The West Sydney Labour Council by 30 votes to 25 recommended the Labour Party executive to select Mr Lambert, the Lord Mayor, as the successor to tho late Mr T. J. Ryan.)
