LATE SPORTING.

TRAINING NOTES. Thursday. A cold southerly wind made the conditions unpleasant during training hours at lliccarton this morning. The sand arid tan tracks were. open and most of tho li6rs.es with engagements next week were given steady pace work ou one or other of these circuits, but tho work. was dull and uninteresting. A few horses, who have been showing signs of soreness, were exercised on the number seven grass track. The North Canterbury hunter, T.ilybrook, was tried at the pony hurdles, but she refused to jump and the attempt to school her was abandoned. Ready was schooled elver a circuit of the Hurdles, giving a fair display, though he chanced a couple of the obstacles. S’turdee, who arrived the previous day, was out doing steady ' pacing, lie looks in tho best of order, after his recent racing in the North Island. Alteration moved n. trifle short when out at walking exercise, but he hit out freely when worked on the tan. The overnight arrivals from the south, consisting of Silent King, Bebehead, Mirza, Barrister, Corn Rigs, Filagree and Whipcord, were all given easy tasks. ft is probable that to-morrow’s work will be of some interest. Most of the horses will be doing their final fast gallops, while a number of the jumping: brigade will be schooled. ANNUAL MEETING. NORTH CANTERBURY AND OXFORD JOCKEY CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING.
