Though no rain fell during the night the weather was dull in the morning, a.nd the wicket was slow and drying. The attendance was 5000. Bards ley and Macartney continued their unfinished innings to the bowling of Taylor and Parkin. Only eight runs were added to the overnight score when Mnoartney got his leg in front of Parkin. Two for 136. With the total still at 136, Bardsloy returned the ball to Taylor, who dropped it, and Andrews at 2S returned a straight one to Marriott, and was let of! The scoring went on steadily, mostly on tho leg side. The wicket had no bite, but occasionally Parkin made one jump like M’Donald does. Cook lelicred Parkin at 180. Andrews lost his wicket through running down tho jdteb. and mishitting Taylor, Makepeace taking the catch. He batted for 130 minutes, and hit a, sixer, and eleven 4’s. Lancashire opened their second inninga badly against Macartney and M'Donald. Twenty minutes' play produced five runs, including two no-Falls. Then M'Donald clean bowled both Hallows and Makepeace.
