MOVEMENT CAININC STRENCTH. Sketch plans are to be prepared ai once for th© concert chamber, which v is proposed to erect on the Canterbury Hall site. Alany societies have writter to the Mayor approving of the pro posal. The Royal Humane Society has nov written agreeing to assist in the sal« of debentures and to work for th« success of any loan in connection wit} the erection of a suitable-hall. “ TY< would also endeavour,” the society adds," to promote, in conjunction wit-1 kindred societies, a concert on i gigantic scale to help in the furthering the scheme. The wish was unanim ously expressed that a hall suitable io' concert requirements should lie push©* on with all possible expedition, an< understand that this concert chambe: is not to take the place of a To tun town hall. We desire you to conre; the society’s thanks to the Atayor fo his efforts in the matter.”
