NEXT SATURDAY’S CARNIVAL.
The Sumner Gala and Aquatic Can nival, which is to take place on Saturday next, is expected to be the biggest function of the kind ever attempted in Sumner. Being conducted under the auspices of the Sumner Borough Council. til© proceeds are to be devoted to much-needed beach improvements in the nature of shelters and conveniences for visitors. The programme is a lon* and varied one, and includes hydroplane and aquaplane displays, yacht, punt and rowing races, besides the usual swimming ’and running events- Extra attractions will comprise a treasure hunt, catching a goose blindfold, climbing a greasy mast, riding a Yankee horse, and special displays will !>© made by life-saving crew’s, the Lifeboat Club and the Darktown Firebrigade. Stalls will be available for afternoon tea, sweets and surprise packets, and numerous sideshows have been engaged.
