At an enthusiastic meeting of the Gala Committee held last night it was decided to add to the already splendid programme, a revival of that old world custom 7 the Dnnmow Flitch.” Immortalised by Harrison Ainsworth and Serformed "in Christchurch at the olosseum some ytars ago with much success* the presentation of the flitches of bacon to the couples who have been proved before a judge and jury not to Lave quarrelled for a year will take place at the New Brighton Gala on Saturday. January 29. Christchurch lias mamv happy couples and many applications have already been received for the flitches of bacon.
