PROGRESS LEAGUE’S VISIT.

Mr P. R. Climie, organiser of the Canterbury Progress League, had a conference yesterday with Mr L- Picks, Chief Government Electrical Engineer, in regard to the visit of the Minister of Public Works and the public to Lake Coleridge. Mr Birks said that he thought the Minister would arrive in Christchurch about January 26, and that Saturday, January 29. probably would suit td;o Minister, also farmers, business people and others, as the date for the excursion. Mr Climie telegraphed to the Minister, who replied last night, stating that he was afraid that January 29 would be somewhat late, and that he would reply definitely as soon as possible. It is probable, therefore, that the visit will be made some time between January 26 and January 29. Mr Climie will make a definite announcement as soon as he receives a further telegram from the Minister.

Air Climie will go to the lake in a few days in order to make arrangements for the visitors. A proposal to visit the Harper River, where a deviation will be made, may have to b© cut out of the programme, on account of the difficulty ol taking a large number of ears to the river.
