Strange things still happen. Yesterday afternoon the Jttev J, J. North was rung up by a lady who inquired about the h'ight the Famine Fund. She u anted to be sure that tho .European need was real, and that the method of distribution was good. She said she nad a considerable cheque to give to the fund, and would post it. Jjy this morning’s mail a cheque for £7OO was delivered to Mr .North, it was an open cheque, and the envelope contained no lino of tho lady’s writing. The cheque was issued by the fost 'Office Savings Hank, signed by tho Savings JJank otlieer, on tho Jlauk of New Zealand. Tho lady’s name therefore is buried iri obscurity.
