Sir Thomas lepton tells sonic Rood stories of the road, ono of which concerns a motorist who, driving along a country lane, overtook another man and a dog. The man jumped to one side; the dog was killed. Instantly the motorist stopped, leaped from his car, pressed some Treasury notes into the man’s hand, and fled.
