HOME ECONOMICS.
There is nothing more important in the life of a community than ‘ ‘ Home Economics,” and the proposed establishment in Christchurch of a Home Economics Association for Canterbury should meet with practical support. The movement is under the auspices of the Canterbury Education Board (Domestic Science Department). A similar association has been fonned in Auckland and already it has proved its value to the home-maker and the teachers of the various branches of Home Science. The association’s aim is to further the interests of household science and art, both educationally and in the home; to study the law in relation to home problems, striving for better conditions in all food supplies; to rouse home interest in public sanitation; to suggest improvements in the school laws relative to successful work in the schools; and to organise open meetings for lectures, reading of papers and consideration of any matter pertaining to Homo Economics. /
