HOW TO PRESERVE THE COAL FLEXION. M ar work may have spoilt some complexions, but want of proper care is much more to blame for an unattractive skm. , nde t° keep the skin healthy is to use plenty of water. Wash, the face, and wash it well! No one should attempt to cleanse the face by the means of special preparations onlv. Ram water is the ideal, skin cleanser. But as the town girl cannot obtain it the best substitute in distilled water’ which may he bought at a, chemist’s quite inexpensively, but failing it. the water so dear to many a servant’s heart with which to make tea—“ water that has boiled ’’-—should bo used Through being boiled it will have hjet some of - its hard qualities, including any lime it may have contained. A delightful solution to add to the water may be made from an ounce of liquid ammonia and half an ounce of soft soap. A good plan is to borrow the domestic pestle and mortar and place the soap in the pestle, then add a few drops of tho ammonia and pound the mixture well, stirring in one -direction; add a little more ammonia and repeat tho process, stirring thoroughly until all the ammonia is mixed with the soap. Then slowly pour in a very little water and stir well; continue to do .this (he quite sure to stir in one direction only) until there is about twice a-S much wader as ammonia- The solution can be diluted up to two pints of water. r Just a dash of this “cloudy ammonia ” added to The Water will make it soft and delightful to use. Then the necessary touch of .powder! It must be the best quality only and applied in moderation.' Inferior powders have spoilt inany a skin.
