Sitting in Chambers this morning, his Honor Mr Justice Denniston, made an order by consent, that the suit Hutchison (Mr Lane) v. Broughton (Mr Wright) should be'heard with a special jury of twelve. The inmates of the Queen Mary Hospital applied to the C.D.C. to obtain a cornet, of which they were in need, for their band. Thanks to the generosity of Mr F. C._ Raphael this want will no longer exist, as he ha 9 given a very good toned instrument to bo forwarded to Hanmer. The Auckland " Star " says that complaints are made of cattle-stealing on an extonsive scale. Referring to a letter from tho Auckland c-xecutivo of the Farmers.' Union on. this subject at a, meeting of tho Morrinsville branch, Mr M'Alpine stated that one man near Morrinsville had recontly lost twentyfivo fat bullocks, and that tho executive was of opinion that hundreds of cattle wcie going the same way.
