VIOLET DAY.
FIXED FOR AUGUST 22. \ A meeting in connection with Violet. (Day was held in tho Art Gallery this I morning, Mrs 11. Tabart presiding over ! sixteen members. ' ' Those present agreed to form themselves into a Viotat Day Committee. Mr G. L. Donaldson was elected honorary organiser. It was agreed that tire funds raised should be divided between the Lady Liverpool Trench Comfort Funds and the Red Cross "Our Day " appeal. It was agreed that Violet Day should • be lield' on "Wednesday, August 22. It was decided that sixteen stalls should be erected in tho city and a large market formed in tlu-> Square, twelve tables in tho Square, two in Victoria Square and two at the Clock Tower, each stall-holder to supply twelve girls as sellers. The following were allotted stalls:— Mesdames Bean, R. Anderson. Alga Williams, Beth ell. Dalgotv, J. Thomson, Poulton. Tobin, Steeds. Carney. SethSmith. Hi A. Knight and C W. Reid and Miss Bathgate, Miss E. Cooper promised to organise a coffee stnll, which promise* to be a novel attraction for Christchurch.
