Dr Derrick deposed to an examination of the body, and said lie was convinged that death was caused by drowning. The evidence of various -witnesses showed that tho little girl was seen coming homo from school with a Maori boy, Richard Tteihana, and a European boy, Edward Claude Gibbons. They were seen going to the bank of Kerikeri Creek. "Afterwards both boys were seen going homo alone. The girl's clothes were found on the bank, and the naked body, was recovered next .day. 'lt was proved that tho girl could not undress herself. Gibbons mado a statement to the eflect that Reihana undressed the girl ; and put her in the water.
