Albert James Hem was charged in the Police Court this morning with failing to make an application for enrolment, in the First Division. The defendant said that he had filled in a form, and had posted it in 1915, but had received no reply. Last year ho had called at the post) office and'had filled in another form and posted it. Tho Magistrate .said that the onus was on the defendant to show that; ho had made application for enrolment. He had taken no steps to fijid out what had happened to his application or to see -whether his name was on the First Pivision list. The defendant was fined £SO.
