PUBLIC SERVICE NOTES.
CRICKET ON ST PATRICK'S DAY. In previous years it has been usual for the Civil Service to place four or five cricket teams in the field against tho banks, but this year the latter could not accept tha challenge and the fixture had to bo abandoned., With fl. view to providing other .recreation, the .local Association secretary ■ (Mr George J. Russell) got into touch with the officers of Bnrnham, who took the matter up enthusiastically. _ Ihe trip will be purely a pleasure ja'int. Tho cricket match will_ not be made paramount to other considerations, and athletio qualifications are not of .«reat moment. Tlio opportunity will be taken to show the officers all over the establishment. The following willjjiake the trip:—Messrs Eanics (Audit), Cain (Agriculture), Cordery (Customs),' M'Gill (Defence), Harrison "(Education), Hendrv and Willims (Government. Life), 'Mulcaliy and Wakelin (Labour), Day. Harding and Maloney (Lands), Dwyer.
