MOTOR-CAR SMASH.
This morning a collision occurred near Coach Corner, Riccarton, and as a result a taxi-cab was put out of action for a day. The motor-car was driven by a man named Murphy, and fortunately, at the time of the accident, he had no passengers in the car, being on the journey back to town. The car struck _ a tram-car head on, the impact being severe. The driver was thrown out, but it is not known what injuries he received, as he was not taken to the Hospital. It was rumoured late in the afternoon that his injuries were very severe, but'an eye-witness of the occurrence said that, beyond a cut lip, he did not appear to be much hurt. The car was dragged to one side and left there all day.
