FATAL FIRE.
A SUMNER SENSATION. MAN BURNED TO DEATH. Shortly after half-past twelve this morning a five-roomed house situate in Wakefield Avenue, Sumner, and occupied by Mr Fled. Porrin, liis wife and two children, and his brother, William, was totally destroyed by fire The brigade, were quickly on the spot and Mr Perrin and his wife and children escaped safely, but no trace of William Perrin could be found. About an hour afterwards the body of tho unfortunate man was discovered by one of the Fire Brigade members. Ho appeared to have been fullv dressed, but his clothes had been burnt off him. The body was taken to the Marine Hotel stables, and an inquest will be held, probably to-day. The deceased was about thirty years of age, and worked as a painter in the emnloy of Mr J. W Tant, of Sumner. The building was owned by Mrs Rowlands, of Allen Street, Christchurch.
