The Minister of Education ~has refused the request of tho Stage Children's Association to allow children under the age of ten to bo employed in places of amusement. The Association asked that tlio ago should be fixed at seven years. (Received April 23, 11.20 a.m.) A SEVERE STORM. Considerable damage was done by yesterday's storm. A factory in course of construction at Botany Bay was blown down, the damage being £ISOO. Several buildings were- unroofed and trains were derailed. CHURCH UNION. A special session of the Congregational Union adopted the minority report of the committee appointed to consider the union of tho Churches. The report urges tho union, with tho retention of basic principles, of the Congregational, Methodist and Presbyterian Churches.
