ILnxawl'Tu.v on Piucjiisjis.—William Allan was charged with being a rogue and vagabond in that lie had been found upon the premises or the Trocadero Private Hotel without lawful excuse. Tho accused .stated that he hau come from Asbburton to apply for a billet advertised, and had had no thought of committing a crime. He was convicted and discharged. Ai.i.ki;ki> Tukkt.—-Howard Roberts and Geoffrey J Suiter Lush (Mr Weston) were remanded to appear on "Wednesday on a charge of having stolen the sum of £1 at Sydney. .Bail was allowed, each of the accused in £IOO and one surety of £IOO each.
Ai.i.kgei) Fuituiaiv.—Charles Amos Houston, alias Edwards, alias Wilson (M r Leathern) appeared and pleaded not guilty to a char go of having forged and uttered a cheque for £lO 10s oh J. F. Merrin. I)itONKKX\i:ss.--Michael Breen was fined 10a, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment, for drunkenness.—One first offender and one statutory first offender for drunkenness were each fined Gs, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment.—A feeble old man, six-ty-eight years of age, a first offender, who stated that he had recently como out of the Old Men's Homo at Ashburton, and who denied having been drunk, was remanded for a, week and was released on the understanding that ho should stay at the Salvation .Army Homo during that time. A DKF.vrivr Case.—ln the case of John Hall and Co., Limited, v. Mary Hill, judgment for £5 7 s 8d with costs was entered for tho plaintiffs bv default.
A Perm kr's Pixr,.—Rudolph Stanley Draper (Mr Cuningham) asked for an order against Jolyi Isaac Cotterill (Mr Leathern) for £4. 12s .'id. the price of meat supplied to the defendant. After hearing tho evidence of the defendant's wife, the Magistrate entered judgment for tho plaintiff for £1 with costs, less £2 15s 3d naid into Court.
