THE WEATHER.
The drizzling rain which fell at Ashburton during the greater part of Saturday developed into a downpour towards evening and it continued to fall very heavily throughout the whole of the night. It eased off soon after daylight yesterday, but frequent heavy showers continued to fall up till eight o'clock and lighter showers till noon, when the weather bogan to clear and the sun shone out during the afternoon.
