A message from Berlin says that twelve persons were drowned at Rodenkirchen, a new bathing place.
[Pee Pbess Association.] AUCKLAND, August 16. Douglas Manttan, injured by a fall down the well of a lift, died yesterday. Robert Leonard Wakefield, aged thirty-five, fell from a launch at Onehunga When steering alongside the wharf. He swam for a time and a dinghy pat off to his rescue, but he sank before it reached him.
Bartholomew, the jockey who was injured at Riccarton last week is progressing very satisfactorily. Tile other jockey, Cochrane, is conscious at times, and is getting on favourably towards recovery.
