SYDENHAM I'ICTORES

The Sydenham Picture, Palace was very largely patronised on Saturday, both at the matinee and in the evening, and the week-end change of programme was Tvarmoly v/dcomed. The management makes a point of largely leavening the bill of fare with educational films, and the scenic pictures are always well chosen.. Oji Saturday the first picture shown was one depicting life in the London of to-day, and another presented incidents of scenery in Heligoland. There were two sporting films, one showing the running of the last English Derby, a film that did not fail to "appeal to the audience, and the second views of a rabbit battue in Wales. Dramas founded on life amongst the North American Indians arc popular, and "The Girl of the West" received it? due meed of applause. "The Chief's Daughter" was also a popular subject. The four or five comic scenes caused the laughter they were intended to provoke. The orchestra's work was quite up to its usual standard. For Wednesday's change of programme the management announced that a special film had been secured which was quite new to Christchurch. Jt is entitled. " 100 Years Ago," and i« a drama founded on the early days of the Australasian Colonies.

FULLER'S PICTURES. At the matinee and evuning entertainments at the Colosseum on Saturday there were large and Fuller's pictures were well received. To-night a complete change of programme will he made. Tlie principal film will he "It's NWer Too Late to Mend," adapted from Charles R.eade's novel. Mr Alfred Booth man will describe the story of the film. Other new films will be " The, Panama Canal," "Tresses and Curls,' " Adna's Imprisonment" and "An Aching Void."

WEST-H AY WARD PI CTURES. The West-H&y ward Pictures _ were successfully shown to large audiences on Saturday afternoon and evening His Majesty's Theatre. To-night the chief attraction will be the presentation of the film illustrating the production of " Henry VIII." by Sir H. Beerbolim Tree's company. Other films will be "His Wife's Husband," "Indian Maid's Lesson," " Edna's Imprisonment," "Charcoal Burning" and "Bosnia."
