RAILWAY ACCIDENT AT GLASGOW. United Pre*s Asßociation—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received August 14, 9.35 a.m.) LONDON, August 13.
A passenger train at Glasgow, owing to the brakes failing to act, crashed into the dead end at the Queen Street station, jumped upon the platform and went through the wall of a refreshment room. Five persons were injured, and the Provost of Glasgow had a narrow escape. DERAILED TRAINS, (Received August 14, 10.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 14. A train left the rails at Riverstone, and the passengers were badly shaken, but none were injured. The line having been repaired, later, at the same place, the engine of a second train, while going slow, jumped the track. It is supposed that the line was warped.
