It is reported from St Petersburg that 300 houses were burned at Ivohtroma, and that twenty-eight persons were killed and fifty injured. By another first at Horall, in the same vicinity, 280 houses were destroyed. ("PJCR PR*-" AcsoorATroN-.l NELSON, August 14. On Saturday afternoon a fire in Bridge Street, opposite the new "Mail" o<Bce, gutted London's oil and nnint shop, an old building. The insurance amounted to £l5O on the stock and tools, and £SO on the building, both in the New Zealand Office.
