DISASTERS IN RUSSIA
MANY LIVES LOST. United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. (Received Auirust 14, 9.45 a.m.) LONDON August 13. It is reported from St Petersburg that 300 houses were burned at Ivohtroma, and that twenty-eight persons were killed and fifty injured. By another first at Horall, in the same vicinity, 280 houses were destroyed. ("PJCR PR*-" AcsoorATroN-.l NELSON, August 14. On Saturday afternoon a fire in Bridge Street, opposite the new "Mail" o<Bce, gutted London's oil and nnint shop, an old building. The insurance amounted to £l5O on the stock and tools, and £SO on the building, both in the New Zealand Office.
