, : *. MOUNT LYELL RETURNS. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, September 16. The Mount Lycll returns from August 11 to September 7, inclusive, aro 28,771 tons of ore treated, and also 5 tons of purchased ore. The converters produced 402 tons of blister copper, containing? 486 tons of copper, 41,462 ounces of silver, 803 ounces of gold. The lower output is duo to temporarily lower assays from the principal stones, together with increased difficulties in extraction owing to tho severity of the weather. [Peii Phess Association^.] AUCKLAND, September 16. In the Talisman mine the water is being easily held below No. 13 level, and' it is expected that mining operations will be resumed this afternoon. Shares rose from 47s 3d to 50s 3d after this information was posted.
The Canterbury Stock Exchaugo has received the following from the Talisman Consolidated Company:—"Holding water thirteenth level easily so far. If no material change- will probably bo able to do some mining' as well."
