In the- annual match between the champion county and the rest of England, tho" latter beat Kent by 244 runs.
The tenth annual .meeting of A. J. White's Cricket Club was held on Monday, tho president, Mr W. A. lnkson, being in the chair. Ten new members were elected. The report and balancesheet, which were adopted, showed the finances to be in a satisfactory condition. The following officers were elected : _Patron. Miss M. "White ; president, Mr .1. Coles; vice-presidents, Messrs W. A. lnkson, A. C. Reed, It. 0. Dimcan and A. Marshall; captain, Mr C. Peat; vice-captain, Mr . !.i. Wigzcll; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr Hudson; general committee, Messrs "W. Richards, M. O'Reilly, V. Hand, H. C. Jones. K. Wyness and E. J. Amos; selection committee, Messrs H. Wigzell, A. Marshall and R. Boveridge; custodian, Mr K. Wvness; auditors, Messrs M. O'Reilly and P. O'Connell. The trophies won last season were presented by the chairman as follows: —The Misses White's bat for best batting average, to It. Boveridge: Mr Inkson's trophy for best bowling average, to W. Richards: Mrs Inkson's trophy for second batting average to P. Hand; Mrs Inkson's trophy for best all-round junior, to C. Brown. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to the donors of the various trophies and to the retiring officers. It was decided to open the season on October 1.
