FIRES.

♦ [Pbr Press Association.] AUCKLAND, April 13. A fire occurred in the "Star"" office early on Sunday morning. It originated in the stereo room. The fire brigade so promptly attacked the flames that they^'were confined to one floor at the back of the premises. The damage is between £500 and £1000, and is covered by insurances in "all the offices. A big staff of offioe employees, engineers and carpenters worked energetically to get the plant in working order, so that the repairs were effected sufficiently to enable work to be resumed as usual to-day. When the fire brigade was proceeding to the fire the hose reel, with two men, capsized when turning the corner of Fort Street. The men sustained iujuries, which are not serious.
