Matenga is wanted on a ohargß of stealing a horse about two years ago. Some time ago an expedition was sent out to capture him, but was unsuccessful, and the party . had a hard time, the weather being very rough. Since Matenga took to the bush after the alleged horse-stealing ho has been blamed for a number of petty thefts from bush camps. ,A, short time ago Detective Broberg, Constable Skinner and Green, a man with a knowledge of the district, left town to seek him again. On Monday they left Tahora to inquire into a report that a strange Maori had been seen at the Rangiora pa. From there they followed the trail, and came npon Matenga at Harapepa pa, about -fifty miles from town, Matenga was taken, and admitted sundry thefts from bush camps':
