CORRESPONDENCE.

THE HOSPITAL CASE. TO tHE B.viITOR. Sir,— When reading the report of the interview with Mrs Smith, the mother of the child about whom the inquiry at the Hospital took place, I noticed tbat she stated lhat Dr Crooke met her child in the corridor at the Hospital and ordered it to be taken to the ward. If this be the case, surely the responsibility of attending to the child rested with him, and not with Dr Livesev, the assistant surgeon. In the light of this the Board's request to Dr Livesey to send in his resignation seems somewhat harsh, unless they were cognisant of facts which have not appeared;before the public. With a view to explaining this apparent injustice, would it not be better for . the Board to publish the proceedings.-r-I am, etc.." K. Ohristchurch, August 27.
