NOVEL PORPOISE DESTROYER.
In view of the ill-success of the campaign against the porpoises on the Breton coast, M. Henri de Goosbriand', of Roseoff, in an article in a Brest paper, says that submarines are the only weapons which can be used effectually against these enemies of the fishermen. But as the naval submarines cannot, be spared for this service, he suggests the construction of a submersible wooden turret, strengthened by iron bands like a barrel, furnished with a double bottom and water-tight windows, and provided; with bomb-lance tubes, for the destruction of the pests, who avoid showing themselves on the surface.
