FRAUDULENT FUR COATS.

The "Montreal Star" brings to light an extensive fraud, by Which moderately well-to-do people have been fleeced. The frauds are worked by a well-organised gang, who insert advertisements in the newspapers, stating that owing to the departure of a lady for the south she would be willing to sell a valuable Per^a'n lamb coat for £1(1 or thereabouts. Many coats were sold in this way, and the purchasers made the discovery, when the lining was removed, that daylight could be seen through hundreds of of seams, and! that the coat would oot stand a fortnight's wear. The garments were made from hundreds of small pieces of fur bought for a mere nothing at a large furrier's establishment. A woman who figured prominently in the case is being ■ looked for in vain by detectives.
