ELECTRIC TRAMS
« . GREEK ANSWERING GREEK. rFEOM OtTR COBB.BSPQNDENT.3 WELLINGTON, May 29. The electric tram controversy, has taken another turn. Mr Wright, the City Council's engineer, has replied to the hombardmentof the double trolley forces with a very effective volley of scientific opinion. f . He meets expert opinions with expert qpiiuosw, and he minimises the' facts. Against him. The main point of his contention is virtually to the effect that electrolysis does occur in connection with the single overhead trolley system, but At a rate which -will take five centuries (in view o| the improved appliances of to-day) to do any appreciate damage. He attributes the whole agitation to a Christchurch Professor who has an observatory. Observatories, he says, are, of course, damaged by the single systen*,"hut they have gone elsewhere, and they must go here. You will, perhaps, agree that this is rather more frank than considerate. Our public does not take the matter seriously, especially as the Professor who is to be a victim is not here. Even if he were I don't think ifc would make much difference." y . -• /
