INQUEST.

The adjourned inquest under the Infants' . Life Protection Act, touching the death of a two-months-old infant, named Elsie May Oliver Claston, was resumed at the Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon, before Mr R. Beetham, coroner. Dr Hunt and the mother of the ', child gave evidence. The jury returned a verdict that the child died from exhaustion, following upon diarrhoea, and that neglect .was shown in its treatment by Mary Lukey, in whose licensed premises it had been, in not calling in medical assistance when the child developed diarrhoea. Ellen Heffernan, who took oil of vitriol yesterday, and was removed to the hospital, suffered a sudden collapse at four o'clock this morning, and died." An inquest will be held at the hospital at 2.30 p.m. to-morrow.
