BOROUGH COUNCILS.
. * ■■...■• LYTTELTON. The ordinary meeting of the Lyttelton Borough Council was held yesterday evening. There were present— His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. Radcliffe), and Councillors , Grubb.. Brown; Webb, Cook, Field, Kay, and Whitly. Leare of absence was granted to Councillor Laurenson. Correspondence received from the* Rbmata Catholic Cemetery Board, respecting the dividing fence between the cemetery and the Council's reserve. The matter was referred to the Works Committee to arrange. The report i of the Finance Committee showed receipts i since last meeting as £291 13s 4d, and recommended payments amounting to £1197 03 9d. The committee drew attention to the large amount outstanding for rates, and it was decided to forthwith proceed with summoning defaulters. The overdraft at the bank was reported as £608 13s. The reports of the Works and Water-supply Committees were received. The Works Committee was instructed to report on tarring the streets at next meeting. Councillor Kay was added to the committee on which exCouncillor Smith had acted, and Councillor Whitly to those on which ex-Councillor j Dalljrhad served. .. I _ ■--"-- •. ■~T ".. .■ ■■
