CORRESPONDENCE.
A LETHAL LAKE. TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — E. W. Cunnington's remarks should remind those of our Cathedral City of their responsibilities in this direction. The case alluded to shows sad surroundings from first to last. Was not. the one alluded to once an innocent babe that , brightened a British home. "Found drowned? Who is responsible — ah! who?" j Let the public be the final court, and stura our Cathedral City the repetition of cuch a record. Let us not too often take shelter behind the thought, " I thank tliee I am . not' as . one of these." Were these the victim's sad thoughts: — " Once I had friends — though now by all forsaken ; " Once I had parents — they are now in Heaven. I had a home once. But, Worn out with anguish, sin, cold and hunger, , Down sank the outcast — for death had seized heT senses, Then did the stranger find her in the morning — ■ God had released her from those who did condemn ; But dared not have cast the first stone." Humanity demands that a greater effort be made to reach and cope with such cases, "lest our attempt to judge without compassion leave a. charge - against us." — ; I am, etc., W. H. DAGOMBE.
